Epiphany is a day and it is a liturgical season.
The day is this Sunday, Jan 6. We remember that three people (Kings, wisemen, astronomers, magi) followed a star to find Jesus. We celebrate the revealing of Christ to the Gentiles. They knelt down to worship Jesus.
Come for worship, star making, and food from around the world. PLEASE BRING SCISSORS (put your name on them). We need lots.
The season of Epiphany lasts until Lent. The color is green. The word itself means manifestation , or revelation. So, each Gospel account will REVEAL that Jesus, the human being, is THE CHRIST.
We like to think of the Jesus who lived among us, understands our joys and sorrows, and is our friend, We also know that this Jesus is revealed to us as the Christ in the bread and wine, in baptism, in the resurrection. These are our epiphanies.
Beginning this month - THURSDAY evening study
I invite you to be a part of a Thursday Evening study. This month it will be on the 10th, 24th and 31st. I will focus on the words to hymns and what they reveal to us about Jesus and about our lives as followers. You will get to share your ideas.
6-6:45- Bring something to share for dinner
6:45-7:30- A study
Come to both dinner and study, or come for the study. Each Thursday will be separate. Come as often as you are able.
JOY to all. See you on Sunday!
